There is a reason so many of our guests pair their safari with Zanzibar. After days of early starts and dusty game drives, the white sand and warm Indian Ocean of the Spice Island are the perfect reward. The two experiences complement each other beautifully: the thrill of the wild, then the calm of the coast.
Why it works so well
A safari is exhilarating but demanding, with early mornings and long drives. Zanzibar offers the opposite: rest, warmth, and nothing more strenuous than choosing where to swim. Ending your trip on the beach lets you process the safari, sort your photographs, and fly home relaxed rather than exhausted.
What Zanzibar offers
Beyond the beaches, Zanzibar has real depth. Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a maze of Swahili, Arab and Indian history, carved doors and spice markets. You can tour a spice farm, snorkel or dive coral reefs, sail a traditional dhow at sunset, or simply do nothing at all on the sand.
How to plan the combination
The transition is easy: a short flight connects the safari airstrips and Arusha to Zanzibar. We recommend at least three nights on the island to properly unwind, more if you love the beach. The dry months, June to October and December to February, give the most reliable coastal weather.
Our combination trips
We offer several ready-made safari-and-Zanzibar itineraries, from nine days to two weeks, and we tailor them to your pace. Whether you want a few days of beach or a full week, we will handle the flights and logistics so the two halves flow seamlessly into one trip.
